I haven't needed it yet, but it hangs, unnoticed, by the door to grab when I feel attacked. Yellowjackets like to hang around wherever there is water, every summer.
The jacket is very lightweight, but not flimsy. Just like any other 'hoodie', you can wear it with the hood down, or up and it will cover most of your face, and you could tuck your hands in, too, if you needed to. it is comfortable, and only the neighbors will notice that you are wearing it. You will look kind of strange, but you will be safe.
Last year, we suddenly discovered an underground nest under trees in our back yard, and I sure wished I had one of these jackets handy then. It makes me enjoy my yard much more; just knowing it is right by the door.

This is a terrible year for black flies. My husband is allergic to their bites. Not one bite while wearing the net cover. Absolutely loves it. The head cover is roomy enough for him to wear a hat and a radio headset.
