This will be very handy in another blackout. The illumination is just like on TV, bright enough to read by and guide you about. It is not a spotlight; it is functional and works well. I did have to return the first set of 2 because 1 didn't work. Have not yet put batteries in the new set so I am hoping they are okay. I have 4 so 1 in each of 2 bedrooms, 1 in the family room and 1 in the living room.

I bougth these to be emergency room lighting when the power goes out. They only thing I can think that would make them better is a coat of traditional red paint!
