I plugged this in and it started popping like a bug zapper as it pulled the "negative ions" or dust particles out of the air.....or that is what we first attributed these "popping" noises to be. After 2 weeks of the popping (and interrupted sleep), we could not tell a difference in the air quality in our room. We purchased a different product for the need we purchased this for, and it has proved very effective. I would not purchase this product again. While it sounds like it is working...that is all it is doing...producing noise.
